A day in the life of... a kind of girlboss

A day in the life of... a kind of girlboss

I don’t really like the term girlboss.. Is it a tad belittling? Regardless, I’ve listened to Sophia Amoruso’s ‘Girlboss’ podcast quite a bit. One of the questions she asks is for womens’ ‘girlboss’ moments, moments where they either felt really in control of their lives / careers or something great happened and they were proud of themselves.

I’d say today was probably the opposite of a girlboss moment. I basically tried to do everything ‘girlbossy’ that I think...

Jewels & the Sharing Economy

Jewels & the Sharing Economy

There is so much wonderful, magical, beautiful jewellery out there, but not all of us have the funds to buy everything we would like to get our hands on! (Let alone all the dream holidays, dresses, tequila and chocolate…!)

Luckily we are coming into an era where owning items is not essential in order to enjoy them (woohoo, go sharing economy!). Take Netflix, Airbnb, Uber, Birchbox etc etc etc. We are able to enjoy the luxuries of life without having to invest in the real/full thing, and that’s pretty amazing!

Dear SuperFan...

Dear SuperFan...

Hi you gorgeous glitzy thing!

I just wanted to take a moment from the craziness of launching to say thanks so much for being part of the GLITZBOX journey. I like to think of you as one of our founding members. We haven’t even launched, and yet here you are, so that’s super special to me.

Anyway they have a lot of techy people working for them and I want to become their friends so they will maybe help me one day. So...

Word Vomit

Word Vomit

4 weeks B.L. (before launch)

So I failed this week. I’m not sure that anyone even noticed but I know, which makes me just as annoyed. We announced on Instagram that we’d launch all our designers this week and we haven’t announced any yet!

Also “we”. What is it with starting up a business and feeling like you HAVE to be a “we”? I’m realising more and more that “we” hardly ever means “we”. GLITZBOX is not a “we” it’s actually just me. Eeek, will I regret typing that? Since I started this business (I was...
